The rules of the thing
Terms of use
What you can expect from me, what I need from you, and who is responsible when something goes wrong.

Who this agreement is with
The Lazy Horseman, at hello@thelazyhorseman.com. Using the newsletter or the booking tool means you accept these terms. If you do not, do not use them.
What the booking tool is
A shared diary for a yard's arena, school, horsewalker or whatever else it lets people book. A yard sets up its facilities, invites its riders, and riders take slots. That is the whole of it.
It is a booking board, not a safety system. It does not know how many horses an arena can safely hold, whether the surface is fit to ride on, or whether anybody has actually left. The yard remains responsible for the safety of its facilities and for the people on them, exactly as it was before.
Your account
One account per person. Yards should not share a single login between riders, which defeats the point and makes the diary useless. Keep your password to yourself, and tell me if you think somebody else has it.
You need to be thirteen or over to have an account. Younger riders should be booked in by the yard.
Yards and riders
A yard decides who is on its list. It can invite people, take them off and block them, and it does not need my agreement to do any of it. If you are removed from a yard, that is between you and the yard, and I will not overturn it.
Equally, disagreements about who had the arena, whose fault a clash was, or what the yard's own rules are, are for the yard to sort out. I keep the diary. I do not referee it.
Behaving reasonably
Do not use this to harass anybody, to book slots you have no intention of using in order to keep others out, to break into accounts that are not yours, or to hammer the service in a way that spoils it for everyone else. Any of those and the account goes.
Plans and paying
One facility is free, with as many riders as you like, and there is no card involved. Paid plans for more facilities are coming, and nothing about the free tier changes retrospectively when they arrive.
When paid plans start, prices will be shown before you agree to anything, billing will be monthly or yearly in advance, and cancelling stops the next payment rather than refunding the current period. If you drop to a smaller plan, facilities beyond the new allowance are not switched off automatically, so nothing disappears from under your riders without you deciding it should.
What I can promise about it working
I will keep it up and working as well as I reasonably can, but this is a small operation and there is no uptime guarantee. It may be unavailable for maintenance, and things outside my control will occasionally break it.
Keep running your yard in a way that survives the diary being down for an afternoon.
Your data
Your yard's bookings and rider list belong to the yard, not to me. Ask and you can have a copy. For anything to do with personal information, the privacy policy is the detail, and it is part of these terms.
For a yard's rider list and its bookings, the yard is the data controller and I am the processor. That means I hold that data and process it only as the yard directs and as needed to run the service, I keep it secure, I use only the companies named in the privacy policy to help, and on request I will return or delete it. If your yard needs a fuller data processing agreement on paper, ask and you will get one.
When something goes wrong
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.
Beyond that, and because much of this is free: I am not liable for lost profit, lost business, or losses arising from a booking that did not save, a notification that did not arrive, or the service being unavailable. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is capped at what you have paid in the twelve months before the problem, or one hundred pounds, whichever is greater.
The booking tool does not replace insurance, supervision, or a yard's own rules about who rides when.
Ending it
You can stop at any time. Delete your account and it goes, within thirty days, from every yard.
A yard closing its account frees its address on this domain after a period, and somebody else may then claim it. Export anything you want to keep before you close it.
I can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Except in serious cases you will hear why first, and get a chance to put it right.
Changes to these terms
These will change as the tool grows. The date at the top changes with them, and anything that materially affects a yard gets an email before it takes effect. Carrying on using the service after that is acceptance.
The legal footing
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not take away rights you have under the law of where you live.
Nothing in the newsletter is veterinary advice. If your horse is unwell, ring your vet.
